The mission of MSSA is to provide a unified voice to preserve and protect the fisheries resources, the rights of recreational fishermen, and the opportunity to support activities that enhance the marine environment.

The Dorchester Chapter holds monthly meetings where members hear such topics as charter boat captains and guides talk about what fish are available and how to catch them; scientists discuss the results of studies on the fisheries and the environment; members share information among themselves about fishing successes; and individuals enjoy each other’s camaraderie.  The chapter holds fishing contests, charter trips to local and out-of-state hotspots, social events such as crab feasts, and generally develops a sense of community.  The Dorchester Chapter also sponsors fishing events for children to teach them the joys of fishing and the need to be good conservationists. The Dorchester Chapter meets at 7:30pm on the 3rd Thursday of each month. The meetings are held at the American Legion Post 91, which is  located on Rt. 50 westbound at the foot of the Frederick Malkus Bridge (Choptank River Bridge) in Cambridge, Md.
